Fitness studio staff take to the skies for young people’s charity
Two personal trainers from an Exeter studio are getting ready for a 15,000ft leap of a lifetime to raise money for InFocus. Duncan Attwood and Jeff Angila are part of the team raising raise money for the Exeter-based charity that offers life changing care and support to young people from around the UK. All of these inspirational children and young adults have a vision impairment and other – often multiple – complex needs.
Jeff has been a personal trainer at fit20 for just over two years, whilst business-owner Duncan has worked at the Exeter studio since he opened it in 2018. People with complex needs and vision impairment often need care from medical, physiotherapy, communication experts – and the support of specialist equipment and adapted facilities – in order to get the same chances in life as other people. InFocus supports over 80 young people and their families who come from across the UK to access the charity’s unique services in Exeter.
Duncan – who is also skydiving with his daughter Leah – said: “I’ve always been a bit terrified of heights, but I’m getting ready to face my fear because I know that it’s going to make a difference to some of society’s most vulnerable people. Finding out about InFocus and chatting to some of the young people that this special charity support has really spurred me on, and I now can’t wait for the big day”.
Jane Bell – InFocus’ CEO – added: “We’ve been really touched by the incredible support we’ve had from local businesses during the past 18 months. I’m very proud of everyone who is helping to fundraise to support our work, especially when it involves jumping out of a plane at 15,000ft.”
